Reason for this Autoplay on Hard drive

I found the reason for this Autoplay on Hard drive!
It is caused by virus (I don’t remember the name, these virus names is never so easy to remember). But this same virus will put the text “Hacked By Godzilla” in the Title bar on IE.
After lot of searching I found information in Thai to fix this and I have at last fix my computer.
To start with you will have to go in tools (in any folder window) and select “Folder options” there you will click on “View” tap and there you will select “Show Hidden files and folders” and un hake “Hide protected operating system file” (this selections are important to find the files you need to delete).
You will then open Windows Task Manager (ctrl-alt-del) and select the “Processes” tap and find “wscript.exe” and click on “End Process” (if there is more than one process with that name you have to end all of them) after that you can close the “Task Manager”
Then you will click on start and select “Search” and search for “autorun.inf” (Search the computer) You will then delete all the files that contains the text MS32DLL.dll.vbs (the virus). (There of course should not be Autorun.inf in the C rooth). You will also delete the virus from the system (C:\WINDOWS\ MS32DLL.dll.vbs)
Next step is to edit the Register (Like always you have to be very care fool in the registry tools. Some mistake there can crash your computer)
Click on “Start” and select “Run” and type in “Regedit” and press “Enter”. Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> Software -->Microsoft -->Windows --> Current Version --> Run. Find there “MS32DLL” and delete that entry.
Then select HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Internet Explorer --> Main. There you find “Window Title “Hacked by Godzilla”” and you should delete that entry. You can close the registry now.
Next you will click on Start --> Run and type in “gpedit.msc” and press “Enter”. Then you will open “Group Policy”. There you will select User Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> System --> and there you will double click on “Turn Off Autoplay” and in the window there you should select “Enabled” and select “All drives” (they say in this Thai webside that select all turn of Autoplay will be safer for not getting viruses). Now you can close the Group Policy.
Next you will click on Start --> Run and type “msconfig” and press “Enter”. You will open “System Configuration Utility”. Click on “Startup” tap and find the file MS32DLL take it out (this was written like this in Thai, only part that didn’t use the word Delete, but they probable mean that you have to delete the entry there. This entry wasn’t on my computer so I didn’t do anything there on my PC). Then you will exit the “System Configuration Utility” and select “Exit Without Restart” when prompt. After this you can open my Computer and select “Tools” and “Folder Options” and “View” tap to change back there. Select “Hide protected operating system file” and “Don’t show hidden files and folders”. Then you will empty the “Recycle bin” and “Restart” your computer. This helps me with my computer and I don’t get any “Autoplay” on my hard drive now.

PC keeps searching for an IP address

My PC keeps searching for an IP address. Error on event log: 7000. Network Localtion Awareness. ??

I have manually assigned IP address and still no results. When I use DHCP it will assign DNS servers, but still will not go to the internet. There are no WINSOCK errors, I tried that already.

Solution:-Sounds like a firewall blocking access. If firewall is on try disabling it temporarily and then try to reconnect.

live messenger help

Windows live messenger help?!!urgent?

i've installed windows live messenger 8.1 and it works perfectly fine until one day it goes saying theres an error and its error 80072efd. i've tried repairing in add/remove program, uninstall and reinstalling, using the malicious program detector and virtually nothing works.but windows messenger works perfectly and i've tried shutting down my firewall....nothing works!!can some one help me?!! my firewall is kaspersky internet security 6...i am so frustrated!!!

Solution:-MSN itself appears to be up right now. You can check at http://messenger.msn.com/status.aspx...

If it's a problem with corrupted dll files, you can fix it by running this application:
http://www.imzers.com/msn/downloads/regi...
Unzip it, and double-click on the .bat file.

If that doesn't do it, you'll need to check your connection settings.

If you do not connect using a proxy (if this is your home machine and you set everything up yourself, you wouldn't have one and not know it) go to the Tools menu, select "Options", click on "Connection" on the left in the window that comes up, then click the "Advanced Settings" button. Uncheck all the boxes except for TCP. Close Messenger down, open it up again, and see if you can connect. If not, open up Internet Explorer (whether that's the browser you normally use or not) click on the Tools menu and select Internet Options. Uncheck "Use a proxy server for LAN" if it's checked and select "Automatically detect settings".

Codec downloading error

How do you fix a codec downloading error?

we had troubles downloading a movie and it would not play because it said it had a codec error

Solution:-Right click on the file in Windows Media Player and go to properties. This will display both the audio and video codecs the file was encoded with. At this point, if one of them is red and has a '!' next to the name, it means your system doesn't have it. Search the internet at this point and you'll likely find the codec you need to install.

Some codecs will come with a special player...I try to avoid these since you can usually find a codec that will work with Windows Media Player.

Unfortunately, I have yet to come across any good codec management software, but this process has usually solved most of my problems.

Hard disk crashed

Hard disk crashed!! What should I do??

I have this 4-5 year old Dell desktop and when I try to turn it on, a black screen comes up and it says that the boot volume is too big and I can't turn it on. I always have to restart it, but the same screens keep on coming up! There's always a black screen with a loading bar at the bottom and then a blue screen that tells you to restart. A computer guy says that the hard disk could be gone but I have all my important stuff on that computer like pictures. What should I do?

Solution:-Sounds like a bad hard drive - but do not worry - you can save the data! Purchase a new hard drive (Tiger Direct.com is a great, low cost place). Install the new hard drive as the Master - install Windows on it (I assume you have a legit copy). Install the bad hard drive as the slave - Windows will see this as a storage device and then you can pull all of your files off of it.

Disable autorun for hard drive

How do I disable autorun for an external hard drive?

Okay. I have an external hard drive with two partitions on it. Every time I plug it into the computer, the autorun dialog starts. This is starting to get very annoying. How can I create an autorun.inf file that tricks the computer into doing nothing when it runs the file. I have already created a blank autorun file, but windows still opens an autorun dialog for both partitions. I have also tried disabling autorun from the hard drive properties. However it resets every time I plug in the external again. Any ideas?

Solution:- sure, download and install TweakUI from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downl...

among other lovely power-user settings it allows you to toggle autorun for various devices or turn autorun off altogether (as I did as it's friggin' annoying)

Any folder or My document first error

Hi can anyone help me, pls. When i opened any folder or My document first error with popup window as below:?

Internet Explorer Script Error

An error ha occurred in the script on this page
Line : 11
Char : 1
Error : objecte expected
Code : 0
URL : File://c:\document and settings\folder\local setting\Temp\NDrAO.tmp.html

Solution:-Hunny, VIRUS attack that is what you have, easy to clear that off, but you need to be patient because you maybe have to do it manually. Sometimes depending where is the virus located you may lose some data that is in that particular file. AVG on viruses, easy on userscan find the virus and it will give you the option to follow where is the virus located, then... you eliminate the virus by recycling in to the bin. after, empty the bin. Also if you are in the net surfing ,AVG can caught a virus immediately, it will prompt the window virus vault. the virus stay there till you deleted. Is very important for you to read about AVG. You will loved!!!

If you don't have AVG (Recommended) You know the file name, funded and deleted that particular file into the bin, then... empty the bin. is very important that you run your anti-virus after that.

If you think that you have been attack with a virus, ( in the moment that you are surfing the net ) and you don't have protection in your PC...don't think twice immediately unplug you power cable from the wall and Internet pc card... by doing that, you will stop the virus and get spread allover your PC.

Heating Laptop

Help Over Heating Laptop!!!!????

I have a problem with my laptop (over heating, there is wierd noises coming from it as well, and it shuts down when it's too much) I've also had warnings that the cooling system wasn't working propertly, my question is, how much should it cost to fix this? I want to go with a rough estimate so that I won't get ripped off.... Thnx!!

Solution:- it will cost ~ $100

it sounds like(the noise) the fan needs to be replaced. also make sure you use the laptop on a flat hard surface like a book and not on fabric

RAM won't work on cpu

RAM won't work on cpu, why?

I just got a new RAM but it wouldn't work on my cpu, why does this happen?

I checked my cpu and got the right kind of RAM which is pc100 512MB SDRAM 168-pin DIMM Non-ECC but still won't work. btw the maximum size of RAM my cpu can take is 768MB and I already have 256MB of RAM equipped and I'm adding a new 512MB but it wouldn't work.

Solution:-Let's see now. You forgot to tell us what brand an model your motherboard is... You did not mention what CPU and speed you are running. You also forgot to tell us how many slots you have. If there were 4, then identical pairs must be installed.

But here is a guess.

Plug in the new RAM by itself and try it.

Move it to a different SLOT. and try again.

If you can take those new ones BACK, you might look up the possibilities at http://www.coastmemory.com

Windows has recovered from a serious error?

I just formatted and installed windows xp, with service pack 2, and every possible update microsoft has. I have not installed any hardware, it is the same hardware I've been using for 3 years, the drivers for all my hardware are up to date. I just recently had my computer crash, and finally got it fixed, but after fixing it, the same problems are occuring. The computer keeps shutting down, then I get a message, windows has recovered from a serious error. not only that, but I'll try and listen to my music, with winamp, or windows media player, and they will both "cause unexpected errors" and need to close, I can't even run a game, and I had it almost beat before I wiped out my harddrive, so I have run it before, it just sends me back to the windows desktop, if anyone has any ideas, or advice, I'm lost, please help.
Solution:-My computer did the exact same thing, and they told me that my ati graphics driver was corrupt. I just got a new computer, and didn't fix the old one.

Why won't my HP computer stay in stand by mode

Why won't my HP computer stay in stand by mode? It goes to stand by briefly then automatically restarts.?

My HP Pavilon a1209a with a Celeron D and 512 MB of RAM will not stay in stand by mode. It stays in stand by for approximately 5 -10 minutes and the automatically resarts. And if I happen to catch it while still in stand by mode and manually wake it (by hitting the keyboard, moving the mouse, etc.) then it also restarts indtead of just "waking up." Is this a condition that requires a service technician? Thanks!

Solution:-this is a typical problem. your systems bios/cmos may be set to wake up on the LAN (ethernet or other network connection).. before going to your systems bios to test this is the case try disabling or removing the network connection before you put the computer to sleep or stand by.
if the computer goes to standby then you have to go to your system bios and disable the wake up on lan or whatever your bios has that option listed as. different bios means it is labeled differently.
the only thing a tech would do is do the tests above.
also if you have a screensaver set to start after 10 minutes of inactivity in extremely remote cases this can cause the system to wake form stand by.
or maybe your desk is not as secure and permenant as you think and your system is detecting mose movement (by the wind or other means) which restarts the system. the only thing you can do is trial and error to see what the actual cause of the problem is. you could get a technician to your location but the tech will only do as i've advised you to do. and a tech could charge you £10 to £100 per hour and it could take upto three or four hours to diagnose the problem using the trial and error method that even a seasoned technician would employ as it is not necesarily a hardware or software fault.
you need to also check your settings under power schems or what ever your system is set up as (your operating system).

Computer restarts before coming to desktop.PLZ

I am able to boot xp and i get into the welcome screen but computer restarts before coming to desktop.PLZ HELP

i am able to boot xp and i get into the welcome screen but computer restarts before coming to desktop.PLZ HELP

Solution:-

When you boot, just before you see the Windows Xp logo run hit F8 key on your keyboard. You should get a list that offer last known good configuration. Try that and see if it gets you back in. If not, then do that samething, but choose safe mode. Once into safe mode, go start>all accessories>systemtools>system">programs>accessories>systemtoo... restore. Choose a restore date that you know the machine worked and that should work. May need to go back a few days. Good luck.

BTW this happens a lot with SPYWARE.

Restarts automatically when I try to download

I have windows xp installed on my system. It restarts automatically when I try to download something from Internet

My computer has Windows XP. It restarts automatically when I try to download anything from Internet. How can I fix the problem????

Solution:- there could be many reasons for that-

-->Overheating, if it reamains on for very very long times.
But if it happens only while using Internet, it could also be some kind of conflict also try the following, see if it helps.
-->it could be the system settings that if any windows error will come it will restart, for removing it --
Right click on My Computer, select properties, go to the tab Advanced, then under Start up and recovery go to settings.
Here under System failure unchecked the check box which says automatically restart.

Stop error and restarts

My computer performs a stop error and restarts just before loading Windows XP.how do i bypass this outside XP?

right after the XP loading bar is about to go off, a blue screen displays a STOP error message, and the computer restarts. I know how to disable this from within XP, the problem is, XP wont even load! GRRR! Do I
have to jumper pins together or something because I refuse to pay money for a repairman. Somebody help me

Solution:- seems like some virus
try safe mode
try recovery console (insert xp installation cd and press r when prompted)
then try fixboot or fdisk/mbr command or both

if u have changed some hardware try isolation:
remove or switch some ram or vga etc

Restarts instead of shutting down

My computer restarts instead of shutting down????

today when i press shutdown from the start menu, my computer instead restarts. any ideas why it is doing this and any ideas how to fix it??
Solution:- Your computer is encountering a system error when it tries to shutdown.
It would be useful it provided some kind of error message on a BSOD (blue screen of death) but there is a setting to make it reboot on system error. The link below tells you how to change this setting... Once you have done this, when you shutdown, you should gain a little more information related to the problem - a 10 character code in a message (say) like this:
STOP 0x0000007F (UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP).
Now hold the power button in, to switch off. Then restart...
Google (or yahoo) the 10 character code.
You should (eventually) find more information about the problem and usually at least one workable solution.
Good Luck!

My pc restarts when telephone rings?

My pc restarts when telephone rings?

I have a an adsl connection using a usb modem
I have a phone connected in the splitter and also an other phone in an other plug with a filter attached
Some times when the phone ring the pc suddenly restarts
I dont know why this happens
I changed the filters but nothing seems to change
Is it a matter of the modem, the phone line, the pc??
I'm confused
Thanks for any of your answers

Solution:-Ask your phone company if they are padding the coils that bring your phone/dsl line, if they aren't padding it too much information is coming through to your computer. It could just be that they missed the padding on the line outside your house (or maybe it was put up before they started this practice). If this is happening then your computer's processor is being overloaded and can't handle it, causing the shut down when the phone rings.

System Error?

System Error?

A few times this week my computer shuts down and re-starts. I send the error report to microsoft (tells me to do so because the system has recovered from a seriour error) and the report tells me that I have a hardware issue, but it does not tell me what it is. Does anyone know of any software that could diagnose my system and tell me what the problem may be. Thanks in advance.

Solution:-Ok, with this type of situation you have to start small and then gradually work your way up. You shouldn't just bite the bullet and buy a new hard drive because the problem may be very simple. FIRST, make sure your electric cable is OK, is it plugged in securly? take it out, plug it in somewhere else and try it out, maybe replace the plug. SECOND, How old is the computer? From the DOS prompt, run a chkdsk (check disk). Don't know how to get to the DOS prompt? here's how: Click START-RUN, then type CMD and hit enter... there's your DOS window, now type CHKDSK... let it run, it'll give you some good info... If it is still shutting down and restarting, you may even have some virus acting on your hardddrive, work to remove it with Spybot S&D and/or Lavasoft Adaware Personal. If this doesn't work, get your copy of XP and try to do a repair by starting the computer with the XP disk in it. If this reinstallation of XP doesn't "TAKE" then you may indeed need a new harddrive. Take your harddrive out, read the small print on it and see who made it... whomever made it will usually have some utility on their website that can WRITE ZEROS TO THE DISK, to fully re-write it, I have done this before and of course it takes long (several hours) but the harddrive will be like brand new. HOpe this helps.

Could not read memory from

Hello XP Experts! Windows XP problem? please help?

My computer started showing some problems like "could not read memory from"----- something it shows blue caption with white words saying win xp has stopped working due to some problem. Sometimes it does not boot properly close and starts many times. I tried to repair it with windows cd but few files were not copied saying these are corrupt. I formatted it and and installed fresh xp then I went to Microsoft site to updated. After downloading few files it restarted and again behaving as it was doing before I installed new Xp. My earlier xp installation worked for 9 months. Please help what to do. How to solve this. Is there free software that can repair Xp? What are the indications if RAM is not working properly

Solution:-It is likely that your RAM is damaged. When you rebot your computer there will be a error message saying on the start up screen (I am talking abou the very first screen which appears when you start your PC) "Memory Test Failed" or "Could not read Memory" as you've mentioned. In that case you need to change the RAM before you re-install Windows XP. FYI there is nothing wrong with Window XP.

In order to re-confirm if the RAM is having problem you can go to Control Panel>System and view what is the RAM size (if you could remeber what was the RAM size before). If you find the RAM size have decreased then is most likely that one of your RAM is damaged

XP Professional to XP home

Downgrading from XP Professional to XP home - can it be done?

I have 4 PCs on a wireless network. The 3 PCs with XP home work fine but the PC with XP Professional doesnt enable sharing with the XP Home PCs. I have gone through the network setup wizard so many times, turning file and printer sharing on....nothing works, The XP home PCs can see the XP Prof PC but cannot access the share files or the printer attached to the XP Prof PC. I have followed all the responses to my last question on Home Network problem,....none of the suggestions work. The only solution I am left with is to downgrade the XP Prof PC back to XP home. Can this be done? I only have the manufacturers copy of XP Home which doesnt give me the Windows repair option.

Solution:- Hi,

From a licencing point of view you cannot downgrade from WinXP Pro to WinXP Home.

Manufacturer copies (OEM) of anything from Microsoft can only be installed on one PC and live and die there. This is according to the EULA.

You would need to do a fresh install to go from Pro to Home.

As you no doubt know, WinXP Pro has extra features above and beyond WinXP Home. I find the network wizard terrible in Windows and so do everything manually. If your WinXP Pro is NTFS formatted make sure you don't use any of the additional security features as this can cuase nightmares when trying to share files with FAT32 systems. There are tons of howtos on Microsoft's site regarding networking of Pro and Home. Which I won't go into as I think you're sick of trying and just want to know about the downgrading ;)

Solution:-You can't toggle between them. You can't have them both installed on the same partition. If you want dual boot you should create 2 partitions (2 disk drive letters) and install XP on one and 2000 on the other.

Remove Windows 2000 from your existing installation. You may have impacted XP and if that is the case, boot to the XP CD and do a reinstall of XP. If the registry is impacted you will need to remove the existing partition.
